A history re-written at Centurion, October 5, 2009 where ODI champions Australia retained the ICC Champion Trophy in style beating unpredictable New Zealander in the FINAL at Centurion.After many hiccup by Aussies during initial Matches manage to keep the winning momentum until end.

ICC Champions Trophy 2009 - South Africa

ICC Champions Trophy 2009

ICC Champions Trophy has always been a coveted trophy among competitors. Here is an account of the winners of ICC Champions Trophy in the past years.
1998 Knockout Tournament1998 ICC Knockout Trophy was won by South Africa, who beat West Indies in the final. The tournament was played at Dhaka in Bangladesh. The format was such that if a team lost a single match, it was out of the tournament. Only a team which had won all the matches could win the trophy.
2000 Knockout TournamentPlayed at Nairobi in Kenya, 2000 Knockout tournament was won by New Zealand who beat India in the final. New Zealand bagged the winner's check of US$250 000 and it was their first win in a major ICC tournament. Eleven teams took part in the competition. Top five teams according to the test rankings qualified directly for the quarterfinals, while the bottom six teams fought among themselves for the remaining three spots. Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Marlon Samuels made their ODI debuts during the tournament.
2002 ICC Champions TrophyHeld in Sri Lanka, the 2002 Champions Trophy was given to Indian and Sri Lanka jointly. The final between India and Sri Lanka was washed out twice bearing no result. Twelve teams participated in the tournament. The teams included ten Test-playing nations as well as Netherlands and Kenya.
2004 ICC Champions TrophyHeld in England, the trophy was bagged by West Indies who defeated England by two wickets in the final. Twelve teams competed in the tournament which was spread over fifteen days. The three venues were Edgbaston, The Rose Bowl and The Oval.
2006 ICC Champions TrophyHeld in India, the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy was won by Australia defeating West Indies by eight wickets. Interestingly, Australia had won the Champions Trophy for first time in 2006. Eight teams competed in this tournament. The venues for the event were Mohali, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Mumbai.
ICC Champions Trophy 2009 The ICC Champions Trophy 2009 is a 2nd biggest cricket tournament scheduled to take place in South Africa in September-October 2009. It will be the sixth mini world cricket series. The ICC Champions Trophy 2009 will be contested by 8 Test teams which have been 'seeded' and divided into two groups are A and B.

There is something about fast cars and airplanes. Both are built for speed, but each belong to opposite ends of the transportation spectrum, although, the basic ideas of speed and reaching a specific destination as quickly as possible remain the same. With cars, in terms of horsepower (HP), figures are mostly within hundreds. With airplanes, such as the Boeing 747-200F, we are talking about thousands and thousands of horsepower which is mind boggling.

A Porsche 911 a Sports CAR squeesed a head of a Boeing 747 in a head-to-head 1.7KM road race at Singapore Airport,The CAR and the Plane raced on separate runways 200 meters apart where Porsche crossing the finish line a split second ahead of a Giant Boeing 747.The Boeing however,had got off the faster start.

Iconic figures who left us on a heavenly abode…………..

Well in today’s world where technology plays an important role in terms of communication and globalization, a line was drawn where communication became so easy. Peoples were communicating with something called a Network.

Well this network of communication came to a halt and there was a huge network traffic which stopped the communication for a certain amount of time. What was the cause for this highly controlled network to get congested?

Well, the answer is THE PASSING AWAY OF KING OF POP – MICHEAL JACKSON. The legendary singer, iconic figure who left behind memories which can’t be forgetten…………..

His death created waves in all parts of the world and shocking and condolences messages started pouring in via network sites which created huge traffic in the network and thus network came to a halt.

What made him so popular that messages were pouring in like anything which made network come to a halt?

Let makes MATHS easier......

MATHEMATICS :

Well, there are peoples who play with maths with ease, but to some peoples, it’s a tough game. Whatever it may be, but there a few basic in maths which makes people go topsy-turvy when questioned about them.

Those are various types of NUMBERS……..

Let us learn about various types of Numbers and clear the confusion about it:

(i) Natural Numbers: Counting numbers are called natural numbers.
Thus 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, …..are all natural numbers.

(ii) Whole Numbers: All counting numbers and “0” form the set of whole numbers. Thus 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ….. etc. are whole numbers.

Clearly, every natural number is whole number and “0” is a whole number which is not a natural number.

(iii)Integers: All counting numbers, zero and negatives of counting numbers form the set of integers.

Thus, ……, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ……are all integers.
Set of positive integers = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ……..}
Set of negative integers = {-1, -2, -3, -4, …....}
Set of non-negative integers = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ……}.

(iv)Even Numbers: A counting number divisible by 2 is called an even number.
Thus 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, ……….etc. are all even numbers.

(v)Odd Numbers: A counting number not divisible by 2 is called an odd numbers.
Thus 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, …………….. etc. are all odd numbers.

(vi)Prime Numbers: A counting number is called a prime number if it has exactly two factors, namely itself and 1.
Example: All prime numbers less than 50 are:
2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47,

(vii)Composite Numbers: The natural numbers which are not prime, are called composite numbers.

Here are the tips to protect it:

-Retrieve it as quickly as you can
-Remove the battery first then simcard, dry it with a paper napkin
-Then shake the cellphone vigrously
-Use paper towel to remove wetness inside the cellphone
-Remove covers and external connectors
-Open all the available slots as possible
-If possible you can use hair dryer gently, but don't keep cellphone so close to hair dryer
-Leave your cellphone on the top of the TV set or setup box, low heat is an excellent dryer
-If you are driving, put it in the dashboard and park car in a sunlight for a while

Become a Lie Detector

Introduction to Detecting Lies:
The following techniques to telling if someone is lying are often used by police, and security experts. This knowledge is also useful for managers, employers, and for anyone to use in everyday situations where telling the truth from a lie can help prevent you from being a victim of fraud/scams and other deceptions.
Warning: Sometimes Ignorance is bliss; after gaining this knowledge, you may be hurt when it is obvious that someone is lying to you.


Signs of Deception:

Body Language of Lies
• Physical expression will be limited and stiff, with few arm and hand movements. Hand, arm and leg movement are toward their own body the liar takes up less space.
• A person who is lying to you will avoid making eye contact.
• Hands touching their face, throat & mouth. Touching or scratching the nose or behind their ear. Not likely to touch his chest/heart with an open hand.

Emotional Gestures & Contradiction
• Timing and duration of emotional gestures and emotions are off a normal pace. The display of emotion is delayed, stays longer it would naturally, and then stops suddenly.
• Timing is off between emotions gestures/expression s and words. Example: Someone says "I love it!" when receiving a gift, and then smile after making that statement, rather then at the same time the statement is made.
• Gestures/expressions don’t match the verbal statement, such as frowning when saying "I love you."
• Expressions are limited to mouth movements when someone is faking emotions (like happy, surprised, sad, awe) instead of the whole face. For example; when someone smiles naturally their whole face is involved: jaw/cheek movement, eyes and forehead push down, etc.

Interactions and Reactions
• A guilty person gets defensive. An innocent person will often go on the offensive.
• A liar is uncomfortable facing his questioner/accuser and may turn his head or body away.
• A liar might unconsciously place objects (book, coffee cup, etc.) between themselves and you.

Verbal Context and Content
• A liar will use your words to make answer a question. When asked, "Did you eat the last cookie?" The liar answers, "No, I did not eat the last cookie."
•A statement with a contraction is more likely to be truthful: “I didn't do it" instead of "I did not do it"
• Liars sometimes avoid "lying" by not making direct statements. They imply answers instead of denying something directly.
• The guilty person may speak more than natural, adding unnecessary details to convince you.... they are not comfortable with silence or pauses in the conversation.• A liar may leave out pronouns and speak in a monotonous tone. When a truthful statement is made the pronoun is emphasized as much or more than the rest of the words in a statement.
• Words may be garbled and spoken softly, and syntax and grammar may be off. In otherwords, his sentences will likely be muddled rather than emphasized

Other signs of a lie
• If you believe someone is lying, then change subject of a conversation quickly, a liar follows along willingly and becomes more relaxed. The guilty wants the subject changed; an innocent person may be confused by the sudden change in topics and will want to back to the previous subject.
• Using humor or sarcasm to avoid a subject.

Final Notes:
Obviously, just because someone exhibits one or more of these signs does not make them a liar. The above behaviors should be compared to a person’s base (normal) behavior whenever possible

Most of the times, such a large number of unnecessary background programs is likely to slow down your computer to a crawl without any valid reason or necessity to do so U needed Windows services that you can turn off :

AdobeLM Service : Not all computers have this service, still it is useless, just disable it if you have it.
Alerter : Disable this one if you are not on a network because you will not receive alerts.
Application Management : Set this to manual.
Automatic Updates : Disable it if you don't require auto updating and patching of Windows. It is pretty useless if you use auto-patcher by NeoWin to update your Windows OS. Thus, you will save bandwidth.
ClipBook : Disable this if you are not on a network, since you don't need to share anything...
Computer Browser : Disable this too if you are not on a network, as you don't need to browse and monitor connected computers.
Cryptographic Services : Set this to manual if you are not sure you need it.
Distributed Transaction Service : Set this to manual.
DNS Client : Set this to manual if you are not on a network.
Error Reporting Service : Disable this useless service for reporting errors to Microsoft, because they will hardly even reply to you for any error you get. Also saves lots of bandwidth.
Fast User Switching Compatibility : Disable it if you have only a single user on your computer, or if you do not use fast user switching feature much. That is, if you completely log-off and then allow other users to use your computer, then you do not need this. Note that this service is completely useless for low memory computers.
FTP Publishing : Disable this if you do not use FTP. Help and Support : Set it to manual or turn it off if you do not use the help feature often... You can turn it on again when you want help.
SSL : Set it to manual.
Human Interface Device Access : Turn it off if you do not use hot-keys or remote systems on your computer; if you use them sometimes, it is better turn it to manual.
IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service : Set this to manual to save memory and time. Do not turn it off if you have a CD writer or a DVD writer attached to your computer.
Indexing Service : Turn it off, it uses lots of CPU. If you are an avid searcher, like a maniac, on your computer, leave it on since it will help you. If you know where your files are and do not use search that often, then disable it for your good.
InstallDriver Table Manager : Disable it, it does no harm in doing so.
IPSEC Services : Set this to manual.
Windows Messenger : Disable this if you are not on a network, it uses too much memory and it is a hog. Also, it does no good and sometimes it is likely to become a security threat.
MS Software Shadow Copy Provider : Set this to manual.
Net Logon : Disable if you are not on a network.
NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing : Disable this if you do not use Remote Desktop feature; in my opinion, it is a pretty useless feature.
Network Provisioning Service : Disable this, iti s useless if you are not on a network.
Office Source Engine : Disable it if you have a MS Office CD handy always, its helpful if your installation goes corrupt.
Portable Media Serial Number Service : Set it to manual if you connect portable media to your computer, otherwise disable it.
Print Spooler : Disable it if you don't have a printer.
Protected Storage : Disable it if you don't allow strangers to sit on your encrypted storage computer.
Remote Desktop Help Session Manager : Disable it if you don't use Remote Desktop feature for help and support from Microsoft which most probably is a "Yes".
Remote Procedure Call Locator : Set it to manual. Remote Registry : Serious security threat if turned on, disable it no matter what.
Removable Storage : Disable it if you don't use removable storage drives, else turn it manual.
Routing and Remote Access : Set it to manual.
Secondary Logon : Useless feature for most, disable it or turn it manual.
Security Accounts Manager : Disable it, it's pretty useless, unless you use NTFS Encryption.
Security Center : Damn useless and irritating feature. Disable it.
Server : Set it to manual or disable it if you are not on network.
Smart Card : Disable it if you don't use smart cards on your computer.
SSDP Discovery Service : Disable it of not on network or don't have UPnP devices on home networks.
Task Scheduler : Disable it if you don't schedule tasks like defragmentation, error scans etc¦ and plan to do it your self instead.
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper : Set it to manual if on network, otherwise disable it.
Telnet : Set it to manual if you use this feature, otherwise disable it, especially if you are home users.
Terminal Services : Since you aren't using Remote Desktop etc disable it for good.
Uninterrupted Power Supply : Disable it if you don't have an UPS attached to the serial port of your computer. Universal Plug and Play Device Host : Set it to manual.
User Privilege Service : Set it to manual.
Volume Shadow Copy : Disable it if you don't backup using System Restore or Windows Backup.
Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) : Disable this if you have another firewall such as Norton or Zone Alarm installed, otherwise let it remain ON for better security.
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) : If you don't connect/use a camera/scanner with your computer, disable this service, else set it to manual.
Windows Media Connect : Disable this if you don't use things such as an iPod etc for your Windows Media Player. Windows Media Connect (WMC) Helper : Disable this if you disabled the one above or if you don't need help. Windows Time : Disable if not on a synchronized network.
Wireless Zero Configuration : Disable if not on a wireless network.
WMI Performance Adapters : Disable it, useless service for basic usage.
Workstation: Disable if you aren't on a network. Or simply, if you are a gamer, just shut this one.

Notes:·
1. To enter service manager, go to Start > Run > Type services.msc and hit enter.
2. To toggle the startup type of a service between Automatic, Manual and Disabled, double-click on the required service and choose the specific option from the listbox titled 'Startup Type' in the General tab.
3. If you are unsure about a service or for some reason, think it's important, leave it alone or turn it to manual instead of disabling. It will help protect from damage.
4. Completely mastering service management is a task possible only by trial and error.
5. There are risks involved in turning down important services, better read the description before attempting to change a service's startup type.

Tips to keep your PC running SMOOTHLY


Ten Easy Tips to Keep your Computer Running Smoothly .

1. Never, never, turn your computer off with the power switch until Windows has shut down. The one exception to this rule is when your computer locks up and your hard drive is not running (hard drive light is not blinking). In this situation, you can turn the power off without harmful effects to the hard drive. As cutting the power can also result in lost data or Windows files, you should only do this when you have to. Following this rule will prevent permanent hard drive defects caused by the hard drive heads contacting the surface of the drive disc, and it will prevent a host of Windows problems. Whenever possible, recover from crashes by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys at the same time. Press them again to reboot your computer.

2. I highly recommend that you purchase an UPS (uninteruptable power supply) for your computer. This will keep your computer from crashing during power outages, and will protect your computer from low and high voltage occurrences. An UPS is far superior to a surge protector and will save your computer from almost any type of power disaster. (See #1 above for what happens when your computer crashes.)

3. Backup, backup, backup, any data you cannot afford to lose to at least two separate physical drives. So backup data to external hard drives, Zip disks, CD-RWs etc. The time to backup is when you create something you can't afford to lose. Don't wait until tomorrow.

4. Run Scandisk and Defragment at least once a month. This will keep your hard drive healthy and prevent crashes. Alternatively, purchase Norton Utilities and use it to keep your hard drive healthy.
5. Never unplug peripherals from the computer when it is powered up. Unplugging with the power on can short out the connector socket or the motherboard. The only exception to this rule is if you know a peripheral is "hot pluggable". If you do not know what "hot pluggable" means then ignore this exception.

6. Do keep at least 300 MBs of your C: drive free for Windows to use. If you use Windows XP or Vista then you should have 400-600 MBs of free space on your C: drive. If you do not have enough free space you will choke Windows and it will start dumping data to your hard drive, or it will just get really, really, slow. Use the ADD/Delete tool in the Windows Control Panel to delete unneeded programs from your drive. You can also use Cleansweep included in Norton Utilities to clean up your drive. If you do use Cleansweep or another hard drive cleaner, do not delete shared files unless you back them up. The cleaners do a rotten job of knowing if another program uses shared files.

7. Do not let a lot of programs load up when you start your computer. They use valuable memory and Windows Resources (Windows internal workspace). All programs in your Windows System Tray (in the lower left of your screen) are running on your computer. Close them if you don't need them or run them and configure them not to load when you boot up. Other programs running in the background can be found by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete at the same time.

8. Do use a virus checker regularly. Everyone should use a virus checker. The best type of protection is continuous monitoring from a dedicated anti-virus program like Norton Antivirus. The second best thing is to use is the free online virus checkers such as Housecall provided by Trend Micro.

9. If you have a high speed Internet connection you need a firewall program. A firewall program keeps those who want to hijack your computer from gaining access to your system. You really do not want someone else running your computer. I suggest you purchase and run Norton's Personal Firewall program. Your firewall should boot up with your computer to protect it from invasion. Case in point: When I am online 10 hours or more with my DSL connection, my computer is usually attacked by a hacker at least once. Do not think you are safe from hackers!! Hackers use search programs to seek out computers at random. Get a firewall program and use it.

10. Keep track of the software disks you receive with your computer and new peripherals. These disks contain valuable software drivers and programs for Windows and are needed when Windows must be reloaded. Keep these disks and your Windows software disks in a safe, dry, place -- you never know when you will need them.

India will run out of IP addresses by 2010

Although the internet penetration in India is low, the web in the country is running out of the Internet Protocol addresses. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) had 4.3 billion IP version 4 (IPv4) addresses of which, 68 percent have already been allocated and 13 percent are unavailable due to technical issues.

It is believed that the IP4 addresses will run out by April 2010, which will make it necessary for users to move over to IPv6, or the next version that supports a total of 16 billion IP addresses, reports Business Standard. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has urged the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) that the fast growth of Internet and likely migration towards NGN (next generation networks) will require IPv6 addresses. In this background, (the) creation of a National Internet Registry (NIR) is urgently required.

The Indian IT industry is yet to gear up for the IP version upgrade. Sify Technologies, Reliance Communications (RCom) and Bharti Airtel are some of the ISPs working on this front. "The important thing is to create awareness among Internet Service Providers (ISPs) on the need to migrate to the new format. A lot of work has to be done, like configuring systems and putting equipment in place that supports the new format," says P K Saji, Senior Vice President (Global Infrastructure Operations), Sify Technologies. He also points out that a further delay would make it difficult for ISPs and enterprise users to seamlessly migrate to IPv6

Pakistan T20 Squad for World Cup


Experienced all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, pacer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and big-hitting opener Imran Nazir are the three ICL players who have been given place in the provisional squad. But chief selector Abdul Qadir made it clear that the trio will only be considered for Pakistan duty in the June 5-21 World Twenty20 Championship only if they are cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC). 'If these players are cleared by the ICC only then we will consider them while finalising the squad of 15 next month,' said Qadir.
Pakistan had banned all the national cricketers who defected to the unofficial ICL.
However, a local court suspended the ban and allowed the cricketers to play in domestic competitions in February this year.
Some of the ICL players including Razzaq say that they have parted ways with the ICL and now want to revive their international careers.
Pakistan named three Indian Cricket League (ICL) players in a 30-man preliminary squad for the World Twenty20 Championship, to be held in England in June.

Local Train Accident in Chennai

At least seven people were killed and 20 injured when a local passenger train collided with a goods train in Chennai’s northern Vyasarpadi suburb Wednesday, an official said.
“The accident occurred a little before 6 a.m. The identities of the motormen who operated the two trains are being sought,” a Southern Railway spokesman told IANS.

He added that the injured were admitted to the General Hospital adjacent to the central railhead. The deceased are yet to be identified
